CHP's Onsite expertise

Most of our services can be provided on site, with onsite hearing and medical assessments our main service focus.

CHP specialises in onsite testing tailored to maximise compliance and minimise productivity disruption.

With one of our specialties being WA legislatively required onsite hearing tests, Mine Health Surveillance, and Hazardous Substance Exposure Health Surveillance, we have a fully accredited mobile hearing testing facility, qualified staff, including Occupational Physicians, and even the flexibility to provide fly-in fly-out testing at new or existing test environments.*

Thinking Onsite medicals? CHP has the expertise to organise, and deliver, cost and time efficient programs.

* New Hearing Test Environment: If you do not have a hearing testing booth we can calibrate a room to WorkCover requirements and test with our equipment same day.

Mines Health Surveillance (Mine Health Certificate Health Assessments)

Mine Workers Health Surveillance can be conducted onsite by our fully qualified staff from our mobile hearing test facility or via a fly-in fly-out service using new* or existing test environments.

*As Noise Officers, CHP qualified staff can even calibrate a quiet room on your site, to required WorkCover standards, in which to conduct WorkCover Hearing Tests and Mine Health assessments.

MWHS is also known as Mine Medicals or Mine Health Certificates.  Required every 5 years, CHP can set up and conduct a regular cost effective onsite testing program.

  • 1994 Safety & Inspection Act Administered by the Department of Mines & Petroleum
  • Employers involved in mining or mineral processing are to provide and maintain a system of health surveillance for their employees involved in operations.
  • This assessment involves a hearing assessment, lung function assessment, work and respiratory history investigation and must be conducted by an approved person utilising approved protocols and assessment equipment every 5 years.
WorkCover Hearing Tests (Baseline, Subsequent, Full)
Baseline Hearing Tests, Subsequent Hearing Tests and Full Audiologicals for Workcover WA requirements are one of CHP’s specialties. Onsite hearing tests programmed to minimise disruption and maximise cost effectiveness for our clients has gained our service long term clientele.

    • 1991 amendment to Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act (1981); Administered by WorkCover Western Australia

    • A baseline hearing test is to be provided by employers to employees exposed to (prescribed) noise in the workplace. The assessment must be conducted by a WorkCover WA registered audiometric officer, or audiologist, utilising approved protocols and assessment equipment. CHP conducts on-site hearing tests to these strict standards.
    • This legislation serves the employee by establishing a baseline hearing measure for compensation should change occurindicating an injury. It also serves to protect the employer against ‘bogus’ claims. Baseline hearing tests done on all new employees can also go some way to protect an employer against loss incurred at a previous employer’s worksite.

    • Regular (annual) testing is recommended by the Australian Code of Practice as it allows employer risk management and employee awareness.

WorkSafe Noise Surveys
Noise Surveys, including dosimetry, conducted onsite by qualified Noise Officers to identify employees at risk of hearing loss at work. Surveys can be conducted in line with both Worksafe and Department of Mines and Petroleum requirements.

  • 1987 Occupational Safety, Health & Welfare Act. Administered by WorkSafe WA
  • Employers must demonstrate a ‘Duty of Care’ by providing all employees with a safe work environment, including suitable training and preparation for all job criteria.
  • Employers must know, quantify and manage the extent of all hazards, including noise, to which their employees and contractors may be exposed.

  • Noise surveys are unobtrusive, effective and the only way to quantify noise levels in the workplace.
Health Surveillance – Hazardous Substance Exposures Biological Monitoring
Where employees are exposed to a hazardous substance the employer may be required by legislation to monitor biological effects. This would involve a Health Surveillance program (designed and managed by a qualified Occupational Physician) that is specifically designed to identify any physiological changes to employees caused by the identified hazardous substance.

  • 1987 Occupational Safety, Health & Welfare Act
  • Administered by WorkSafe Western Australia
  • Employers must demonstrate a ‘Duty of Care’ by providing all employees with a safe work environment, including suitable training and preparation for all job criteria. This also includes knowledge of quantifiable hazards including substances in the workplace.
  • The legislation requires employees to identify, quantify and manage hazards in the workplace. Any conditions, including substances, that may negatively affect health must, among other things, be monitored for biological effects through medical surveillance.

Fitness-for-Work Assessments

Employers have an obligation to employee suitably able people to complete specific job role criteria. Specifically designed Fitness for Work health assessments (medical assessments) maybe required to identify the suitability of employees, or potential employees, for specific roles.

Tailoring a health assessment program that measures the physical and health suitability of your workforce to their job criteria can allow you to target risk areas and future training. With similar benefits to the health and lifestyle assessment you also gain the ability to maximise physical health safety while at work.
